How is it that AutoMedia is such a small file size?
The publication is produced in Dynamic Markup Language, or "DML" a language that has been designed specifically for object based graphics construction and the development of user interfaces. It bears some similarities to HTML and requires the reader to function.
How does the AutoNewsNZ live updates work?
The news is an XML feed into the magazine from a remote server. Readers must be connected to the internet when opening the magazine to receive the feed that is updated each day.
Can pages or sections of the Magazine be updated remotely?
Yes this is one of the key advantages of the production format as by arrangement, prices etc can be updated remotely within the publication without having to resend the magazine.
Is it both Netscape and Internet Explorer compatible?
With the required reader the production is multi platform compatible.
Can the Magazine be viewed on a Mac?
At this stage unfortunately no, although the developers are looking at the prospect of making it available.
Can I send a copy of the Magazine on to others?
You are welcome to send the publication on to friends and business colleagues. This is a built-in function. Simply click send on the bottom toolbar, enter the email address and your message and send. The meassge sent automaticaly includes instructions for the recipient on how to install the reader before opening the file sent.
How can I print an article or a specific page only?
By selecting the print option on the bottom toolbar you can choose to print the entire publication or specific pages. Please note that a page is in fact a double page spread for printing purposes. Have the magazine open at the page you want to print and the page will be autoomaticaly selected as the page print number.
Can I speed up or slow down the page turn function?
Yes there is a choice, you can right click on the page to access the menu. There are a number of other functions that can be controlled from the same menu.
How do I turn the background on and off?
There is a button on the bottom left hand corner of the cover for this purpose.
